After the birth of my first child I couldn't get over how this experience had affected and changed me. I started reading more and more and by the time I was ready to do it again with my second pregnancy, I knew it was something that I wanted to be a big part of. But I couldn't just keep having babies. Listening to parents around me talk about their birth experiences made me realize the need for this supportive role. All I was hearing, time after time, was that women just wished that they had been supported and listened to more. When a woman feels heard and valued, she can walk away from birth feeling empowered. Even when it doesn't go according to "plan." After the birth of our third and final child I knew that it was time to pursue this passion that had been growing inside me.
