Would you like some tips on sleep-walking and growing your extra arms? I can help with anything from “What’s that in my baby’s diaper?” to “I think my older child is possessed.” Since the dawn of time women have come together to help each other when new babies arrive. Extended families live together because of such times; the older women passing down knowledge to the younger women who then gain their own experience as well as self-confidence. Meanwhile many pairs of legs and arms are available to walk crying babies and do the chores. Sounds pretty good, eh? I think we all could use some kind of support sometimes. Enter: Postpartum Doulas.
I specialize in Postpartum care. My background is Early Childhood Education. I have 20 years of rewarding experience working with babies, toddlers, young children and their parents. I am nurturing, intuitive and dedicated to creating healthy emotional and physical environments where babies and children can grow, learn, build self esteem and know they are loved. I am looking forward to many more years of caring for newborns and their new moms as a postpartum doula.
Together we can cover specific questions you may have related to the care of your newborn(s) such as feeding, bathing and soothing crying. Or we can cover topics related to having a new baby in the family such as sibling jealousy, lifestyle changes, feelings about new roles. Or I can just take care of YOU by being your cheering section, making sure you’re eating and sleeping, doing housework, running errands, organizing cupboards/ playrooms/ storage, and almost anything else that would make your life a little easier.

Birth Doulas Who Also Offer Postpartum Support
Because there is such a need for postpartum support, some of us who are dedicated birth doulas also offer postpartum doula services when our schedules allow. Often this means that we just extend the care we usually offer our birth doula clients in the postpartum period, to bridge that gap in needed support. If you are specifically seeking postpartum doula services, feel free to contact us for more information about how we can support you. It is important to remember when choosing postpartum support that birth doulas who are on call for births must give priority to the expectant mothers at the time of their labours. In other words, visits may need to be re-scheduled with little notice if a birth doula client is in labour. This may be important for you to keep in mind, depending on your situation.
